How long can an incision from hip replacement surgery leak clear fluid? - physical fluid dynamics .blogspot

My mother, aged 88, broke his hip last few weeks and they had to replace the most. It is moving in a hospital physical therapy to regain. The only thing is that the incision was leaking a little.

Has anyone else this problem and how long it lasted?

Usually left after the first week to 10 days ... and if the queue is used even less. There may be some minor drainage for the first two weeks, but nothing that the group change, which would require more than once a day after the first couple of days ..

A patient of mine recently came to the outpatient treatment of two weeks after hip surgery and drainage was significantly longer. We'll send it immediately to the surgeon, the liquid is sucked in and had to be "sealed" again with the tail. He had a mild infection that had to be evacuated and treated with antibiotics and eventually he had to be stitched closed.

If they change the dressing more than once per day have been after 7-10 days, I recommend you follow up with his surgeon.

My experience - not just the problem, but surgery in general (my husband is 30) that if we do it even seems to extend the deadline.

Or it may be the presence of another problem. But this is rare.

Let me by, first, whether the activity of the further increase of the leak. If you think there is a connection, you can with your doctor whether the movement is also desirable, or where less mobility is necessary to ask for a better cure.

I mean, in the days that they have no treatment, nor seems to be on the same level?

I am not advocating a movement that has its own problems.

Just a thought.

I had both hips replaced and leak memory as long as 2 weeks. The staples are removed at 2 weeks, if the leak stops. The brackets are replaced Steri-Strips, to stay until the tip-over. If so, they make the attention of the nurse. You'll probably say it is normal (and is).

It varies with age and physical condition before and after various operations. Some may leave port for several days and maybe a few weeks. If your really concerned call your doctor and discuss with him
